I love the color of copper – so I am always looking for ways to incorporate it into crafts. This DIY copper pipe tassel necklace uses a piece of copper pipe with leather string. It’s very simple and on trend!
- 1/2″ Copper Pipe
- Pipe Cutter
- Leather string in your choice of colors (44″ each)
Using the pipe cutter, cut off about 1.5″ of the copper pipe. The pipe cutter works by tightening it onto the pipe and turning it around the pipe to score – then repeating that process until the pipe piece falls off.
Cut the leather string pieces to your desired length of the necklace. I cut mine at 44″.
Wrap the leather string around something (like it would be hanging from your neck) and grab all the ends. Feed the ends through the copper pipe. Lay out the leather how you want it to lay after the copper cinches it and tape it to the table on either side of the copper pipe.
Hammer the copper pipe to be flat and so that the leather string is tight and doesn’t move when you tug on it.
Cut your tassels on the end to be the same length. If you have some kinks in the leather – run your blow-dryer over it for a few seconds while pulling it straight to straighten in out.
This is a very simple Copper Pipe Jewelry Craft. Enjoy!
